About the Educational Trust

The Charles Pratt Educational Trust is an independently registered charity trust available to all the children and young adults of the Mathern, Mounton & Pwllmeyric Community Area, to use the charity’s income in promoting education (including social and physical training), recreational and vocational studies for persons aged between 4 and 25 years of age.

To be eligible to claim you need to be aged between 4 and 25 years old and have lived in the community area for at least 2 years.

The charity's objective is to provide additional funding towards educational & vocational material, uniforms, lessons and field trips and to contribute to the cost of special courses, training and educational visits.

The charity owns the old village school building and two areas of land in the village of Mathern.  Income is established from rent paid for their use.  In addition, monies have been invested in trust, thus providing a degree of income from interest.

The educational fund is administered by a body of trustees, having obligations under the Charities Act 2022.

The trustees currently are:

Cllr Philip Murphy - Chair of Trustees

Cllr Matt Sidwell - Vice Chair of Trustees

Cllr Jayne Harris

Cllr Louise Brown

Mrs Janet Bowen

Mr Graham Chapman

Mrs Glenda Lewin
